Best practices

  • The leading edge holds Show Sidebar, Home and navigation; the trailing edge holds the account, settings and status.
  • Symbols are monochrome (R3), and controls inside the bar are plain (R2).
  • Screens can add their own global actions, but never redraw the bar.

Avoid

  • Page actions. They belong in the title row.
  • Floating action buttons (R12).
