When to use
Work people repeat many times an hour: entering lines into a list, processing a queue, checking items off.
Best practices
- The entry field is always ready. After every action, focus returns to it (R18).
- No animation on adding, changing or removing lines. Quantities change with steppers or typing.
- The total is the largest text on screen, in tabular figures, on a Glass bar with one tinted action.
- Shortcuts for the commands people repeat all day, shown on screen beside the control. Standard shortcuts are never overridden.
- Never move focus or swallow a keystroke without the person’s action.
- Forgive mistakes fast: removing the last line is one key away and can be undone.
